Individual Worth

Individual Worth

"What man of you, Having and hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?"
Luke 15: 4

The signs of the times are all around us. Recently, earthquakes in Haiti and Chile have brought devastation to those areas. In the song we sang for New Beginnings, "Strong and Courageous",  it stated, these are perilous times. There are dangers that we face on a daily basis, both temporal and spiritual.

In these areas of devastation the people involved are focused on one thing...finding their loved ones. Is that not what the Savior is doing daily? In the scripture above we see the individual worth of the one sheep. Let's turn it around. Do we see the individual worth of the Savior? Do we understand that He alone is the only one that can save us?

Many of us see the affects of confusion about ones individual worth. There are those who are confused about their gender, the importance of family, or living a virtuous life. While we have these things explained to us through the scriptures and a living prophet, others do not know about these important things. And there are others still, who have these helps at their fingertips and still do not have a full understanding.

While earthquakes are turning temporal things into rubble, sin can turn spiritual lives into that same rubble. Although we can clean up the messes that are temporal, only Christ can clean up spiritual messes. He will look into the rubble and find a precious gift... Us.

May we all find strength and worth in the Savior as we think and pray for those who are in need this day.
